In a spectacular display of athletic prowess, North Herts Road Runners (NHRR) hosted the third event of the Three Counties XC league amidst the picturesque trails and hills between Baldock and Weston. The winter sun cast its glow on the muddy terrain as 55 enthusiastic squirrels, accompanied by a dedicated support crew, took to the challenging course.

The day unfolded with remarkable achievements for Team NHRR, showcasing their prowess and camaraderie. In the women's category, they secured a commendable 2nd place, while the men dominated, clinching the top spot with a gold medal. The combined efforts of the entire team resulted in an overall 2nd place finish for NHRR in the team standings on the day.

NHRR's overall standing after three XC events exemplifies their competitive spirit. The women's team proudly holds the 1st position, narrowly edging ahead by 1 point against Rugby and Northampton AC (RNAC). In the men's category, NHRR stands strong in 2nd place, trailing RNAC by just 1 point but maintaining a significant 4-point lead over Ampthill and Flitwick Flyers (AFF). The team standings reflect NHRR's collective strength, securing a 2nd place finish, again just 1 point behind RNAC and 4 points ahead of AFF.

Despite the strong showing from NHRR, Rugby and Northampton AC's ladies delivered an outstanding performance, surpassing NHRR to claim victory. Their exceptional efforts also contributed to RNAC seizing the combined team win.

A special accolade goes to the men's scoring team for securing NHRR's first victory of the season. The team's depth and resilience were evident throughout the event, emphasizing NHRR's commitment to each member. The ethos of "Everyone matters" was vividly demonstrated as many squirrels ran, while others marshalled, providing unwavering support and securing a fabulous team performance.

In the words of team captain John Auld, it was a fantastic morning for Team NHRR, and their continued success in the Three Counties XC league is a testament to everyone’s dedication and teamwork. Congratulations to the entire NHRR community for a stellar performance, setting the stage for more triumphs in the upcoming events.
Portsmouth Coastal Marathon
Richard Springall completed the Portsmouth Coastal Marathon. He highly recommends the out and back course across beaches and marshes and smashed his PB by 6 minutes, finishing in an impressive 3:06!
Parkrun Roundup

This week, 28 squirrels attended Parkruns nearby and even as far as Jersey and South Africa (Roodeport).
Also worthy of note is Elwyn Howell, who although not in an official Parkrun, completed the customary 5 km on a Saturday morning in Gran Canaria – in the club vest!
