A great turnout of 21 NHRR last Wednesday at the third and final race in the 2022 edition of the Hatfield 5k. Katie Harbon led the squirrel’s home in a superb person best time of 17:14 (85.4% age grade) to set a new club record and won the women’s race, also setting a new course record in the process! Karen Townsend was second woman home in an impressive 19:28. Shahab Ahmad led the men home in a PB of 17:47, finishing 17th overall, 5th in MV40. Nick Malepeli was hot on his heals in 17:54 (85.5% AG). There were lots more PB’s including Tracy Pitcairn in 20:10! The race series championship showed the consistency of lots of squirrels with all 3 races needed to enter the final rankings, with the best 2 times contributing to series position. Seven female and four male squirrels did all 3 races, so well done to Rachel Arnott, Tracy Pitcairn, Jane Clarke, Helen Cairns, Andreea Weisel-Shaw, Karen Dodsworth, Tash Pitman, John Auld, Ian Harvey, James Walsh and Andrew Wallis. Am sure you all look forward to getting back to your usual training patterns! We won at least a cabinet full of trophies with the Ladies Team WINNING the overall event. Rachel, Tracy and Tash loved running as a team, helping each other pace and this showed in the results! Tracy won the individual V35 category, with Jane 2nd. Rachel won V45, with Helen 3rd! We hope all of you that could run in any of the series enjoyed the experience and a huge thanks to all the supporters over the month, with Sibbo at all 3 races providing tremendous encouragement! The cheers give such a boost when you’re running - am sure at least a 10 seconds off your time!
