Most North Herts Road Runners took a break from racing over the long weekend but training continued as usual with the club holding its first session at Chicksands on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile five squirrels participated in Parkruns. Ellie Scott was 1st lady at Stevenage Parkrun in 23.03, with Sheila Leavy 33rd in a time of 29.29 and Helen Govey who ran with her daughter Megan aged 7 came 78th in 38.24. Linda Aird also enjoyed success at Harrow Parkrun as 1st FV55 in 27.11 and Brian Judkins ran his 152nd Parkrun at Tees Barrage finishing in 32.15. Finally back to racing after an injury layoff Andrew Leach put in a great performance at the Barking Road Runners Bank Holiday 5k to finish 4th in 16.23, a new MV50 club record. Interested in running then come along to training. The club meets 7.15pm every Tuesday and Thursday in the Spirella Building, Letchworth. It’s also the First Saturday of the Month 5k on Norton Common this week. This event is free to entre and open to runners of all abilities arrive and be ready to run for 9am.
