Bank Holiday travels brought the best out of North Herts Road Runners as they recorded a series of new personal bests in events across the country.
Adam Bowller made it a hat-trick of new PBs in just 15 days as he sliced 8 seconds off his previous mark at the Ellesmere 10k in Shropshire. The speedy Squirrel shrugged off the ‘unrelenting rain’ to secure 4th place in 34:21.
There were further best times for two of NHRR’s newest members as Tom and Ellie Webb tackled the fast and flat Parkrun course on Exmouth seafront, Tom finishing in 16.17 and Ellie in 22.10. This was Ellie's second PB in two 5k runs and means she has now taken more than a minute off her 5k time in the last month.
Steve McKeown gave his running shoes a rest over the weekend as he completed his first open water 5K Swim at Box End, Kempston on Saturday in a time of 1.24.53. On Sunday Steve was on his bike for the Herts 100-mile Sportive from Hatfield. Despite wet and windy conditions and what he described as an ‘altercation with a large pothole’, McKeown finished in 5h 29min.
