Congratulations Brian Bailey - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for December 2018 Brian's dedication to training the yellow group this year has made him a very popular winner of this months SOTM award. The yellow group coach is described as hardworking, patient , friendly and very encouraging. He didn't let injury prevent him from coaching even when he couldn't run himself. Brian would cycle or walk shortcuts of the route, which was very much appreciated by the athletes he trains. He is also a regular at the clubs popular First Saturday of the Month 5k where he is responsible for entries and results. He is always a willing volunteer and other club events where he can be seen cheering and supporting others.

Congratulations Naomi Parkinson - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for November 2018 Naomi has been awarded Squirrel of the Month for her work and passion in promoting mental health which has touched so many people in the club. Naomi is now the clubs mental health ambassador reminding all of us about the importance of looking after our mental health. She has been the driving force behind events like #RunandTalk and has used her own experience to inspire others to have the confidence to take proactive steps towards improving their own mental health. Congratulations Jane Clarke - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for October 2018. Jane has been an inspiration to many of us this year and is a very worth winner of this prestigious award. After a serious accident earlier in the year Jane has remained positive throughout her lengthy recovery. Visiting the club and keeping in contact with club mates, she is always encouraging and supportive of her fellow runners. Jane even volunteered to help promote club activities by managing our STRAVA account and has done a brilliant job. Running was an important part of Jane’s life before her accident and we are all so pleased to see the role it has played in her recovery and to have her back running at the club. Congratulations Caroline Thrussell - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for September 2018. Caroline has been award this prestigious award for her all round superb effort and multi tasking abilities at this years Round Norfolk Relay. The Round Norfolk Relay just couldn't happen with out the support crews. Not only did Caroline do daytime and cycle support but she also took on the dreaded role of timekeeper. After over 12 hours supporting and a very long drive back across Norfolk to Kings Lynn she then stepped up to take on extra cycle support when it was needed. This meant a very very early start the next morning and a 20 mile drive in the back of the van with two bikes to be where she needed to be to support the runners. Caroline's commitment makes her a very deserving Squirrel of the Month. Congratulations Adam Bowller - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for August 2018 Adam was nominated Squirrel of the Month for his outstanding achievement of three PBs over three different distances in August for 10k (34:21), 5m (27:28) and 5k (16:15). Earlier this year Adam ran one of the fastest marathons in the club for a few years, breaking the V35 club marathon record with a stunning 2:38. He has also been an integral part of the NHRR National Master Relay Squad, cross country and midweek league teams. The recent new father has to do a lot of his training by himself to fit with his family responsibilities but can be seen clocking up the miles on Strava with his newest training partner completing 'buggy runs'. Congratulations Oliver Brady - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for July 2018 Ollie is one of the younger members of the club and is a very deserving winner of this prestigious award. His dedication to training has been rewarded by his significant improvement (and he hasn't been put off by having to train with lots of oldies twice or even three times his age). His hard was evident by his performance during this years MWL consistently scoring for the men's team with times of 38.24, 38.23, 40.09 and 39.50. This would have secured him an individual prize if there had been a category for his age group. His performances have been noticed by many club members and he has been awarded a place at the Standalone 10k to represent the club. Congratulations Richard Harbon - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for June 2018 Richard is a very worthy winner of SOTM due to his extraordinary commitment to the club which he demonstrates in many and various ways. He not only organised Run Round The Garden and our own MWL race in one month. A task requiring superhuman effort, and many hours of organising in the background, putting his own running to one side to do it. But also, showing his not so superhuman side, at the recent Greensand relay, where he captained a team. After making sure that all his team members recce’d their respective legs, he got lost on his own. We won’t mention that Richards is a qualified mountaineer. Richard's immense dedication is reflected in the roles he takes on in the club as our race director, president and more recently coach. These roles so often go unnoticed so we are especially delighted that this little token of appreciation did go to one of our unsung hero’s this month. Congratulations Lindsay Cook - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for May 2018 Lindsay's extraordinary commitment to the club makes her a very worthy winner of this prestigious award. Lindsay joined the club in 1999 and has served on the committee for around 15 years. She was involved in setting up the Greenway Challenge in 2013 and took over as the Race Director in it's 3rd year. Lindsay's hard work and dedication not only makes the Greenway Challenge an enjoyable event for runners but it has raised over £30k for local charities since it began. Congratulations Lindsay your contribution to club and the local community is really valued by all of us at NHRR. Congratulations Helen Govey - NHRR Squirrel of the Month for April 2018 Squirrel of the month was hotly contested in April with plenty of superb marathon performances to pick from. Helen has been award the prestigious squirrel trophy for her marathon debut in the Boston Marathon (UK) in 4 hours 28 minutes . Helen only started running 3 years ago when she signed up to a the clubs beginners group so has come along way as a runner in such a short time. Congratulations to Sue Vaughan and Michelle Grudzinski - NHRR Squirrels of the Month March 2018. Thanks to Sue there was plenty of tasty food at this year's AGM. We all appreciated the effort she put in to cater for over 60 hungry runners with perfectly baked potatoes and an array of toppings turning the AGM into an enjoyable social as well. Michelle didn't let a little thing like an off road marathon hold her back from enjoying the NHRR Awards Evening. Having completed her marathon that day she danced the night away in her best dressed and some comfortable Ugg boots. |
