Congratulations to John Auld - NHRR Squirrel of the Month January 2018. John is a worthy winner having shown extraordinary commitment to the club as Cross Country Rep. He led an outstanding campaign resulting in NHRR winning the 2017/18 Three Counties Cross Country League. Never before has Braveheart-style face paint been worn into cross country battle, that coupled with John's enthusiasm in recruiting runners to the cause meant that none dared not to turn up to races. Constantly on top of the scoring he was able to recall all points, of all teams at any time making sure everyone knew what they had to do on the day and who they had to beat. He also introduced NHRR travel mugs for the team making it the most environmently friendly XC season ever. Congratulations to Sue Foot - NHRR Squirrel of the Month December 2017. Sue's commitment to setting up and managing the SORE (Social and Obsessive RunnErs) league in 2017 makes her a worthy winner of this award. She has single-handedly tracked and recorded the weekly longs runs from all the clubs members, literally making us all go that extra mile. Sue also clocked up a few miles of her own finishing 2nd in the league and currently just competed her 118th marathon. Congratulations to Linsey Ashley, Jennie Andrews, Cathy Chin and Joe Sherry - NHRR Squirrels of the Month November 2017 November was so great that we couldn't have just one squirrel of the month we ended up with four! Congratulations to Linsey, Jennie and Cathy who all completed the Knebworth Half Marathon having only graduated from the couch to 5k beginners course in September. An amazing achievement! Quiz master Joe Sherry was also awarded the prestigious title of squirrel of the month for his amazing contribution to the NHRR annual quiz night. Thanks so much Joe for all your hard work and quiz knowledge, you were a fantastic host. Congratulations to Nick Malpeli - NHRR Squirrel of the Month October 2017 Malpeli celebrated his debut in an England vest by taking the V50-54 silver medal in the British Masters Marathon Championships. Competing in the Chester Marathon, Nick recorded a magnificent 2.47.28 to slice 96 seconds off his personal best and set a new club record in the process. Then only 3 weeks later he then went on to take gold over 10 miles at the Eastern Masters Championship. Congratulations to Jo Harbon - NHRR Squirrel of the Month September 2017 This award ticks all the boxes. Jo has shown both an extraordinary commitment to the club and impressed with an outstanding achievement. She is the driving force behind NHRR's entry into the Round Norfolk Relay giving many club members that chance to take part by either running or supporting in this superb event. It takes a lot of logistics to get 17 runners around the Norfolk boarder ensuring everyone is in the right place at the right time, day and night! Jo's commitment to the event and her logistical management is nothing less than outstanding. Thanks so much Jo from everyone who had the chance to enjoy the Round Norfolk Relay yet again. Congratulations to James Walsh - NHRR Squirrel of the Month August 2017 James received this award for all his hard work organising the 10-week couch-to-5-k (C25K) course which accumulated with 30 beginners completing the September first Saturday of the month race. Apart from organising all the helpers and session, his weekly motivating emails to the beginners and adding tips and trick for those new to running were well received. Thanks James and all the members who gave up their time to make this happen. Congratulations to Jo Summers - NHRR Squirrel of the Month July 2017 100-Marathon club member Jo Summers continues to amaze us with her dedication and performance in marathon and ultra-marathon running. She completed her biggest challenge yet: The Great Barrow 10-in-10 Challenge. That's 10 marathons in 10 days - with impressive consistency she completed the challenge to take the title of first lady and 3rd overall. Day 1 Wickhambrook 4.11 Day 2 Thetford 4.14 Day 3 Kirtling 4.04 Day 4 Newmarket 4.02 Day 5 The Circle 4.08 Day 6 Thetford 4.05 Day 7 Audi 4.06 Day 8 Kirtling 4.02 Day 9 Newmarket 4.03 Day 10 The Circle 4.01 Congratulations to Katie Harbon - NHRR Squirrel of the Month May 2017 Katie Harbon (ladies team captain) for coming first overall and female race winner in all of the 3 mid week league races she attended over this year’s schedule. With her help, the ladies team secured an overall first place in the league. But its reassuring that even stars are not perfect. She lost her race number before the first race and had to run with a different hand hand-written number each of the races.. Congratulations to Monica Cullin - NHRR Squirrel of the Month May 2017 Monica showed no modesty and really bared all for the club when a fellow club mate turned up at the 2nd MWL without a club vest. At the start line with about 2 minutes until the start Monic took one for the good of the team and stripped off her vest to allow her fellow club mate to run and score for the team. This act of selflessness meant the ladies team won on the night. Monica you truly are May's Squirrel of the month. |
