The Greenway Challenge - Race Day Information

Greenway Challenge Runners Information

Sunday May 8th 2022, 9:00 am

ARC Permit No 22/157

Dear Runner,
Thank you for entering the 2022 Greenway Challenge. Please read carefully through the following information.

Race HQ
Standalone Farm, Wilbury Road, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 4JN

Race Number Collection
Number pickup is only available on the day, please pickup before 8:45 at race HQ.

Race Number
Please wear your event number on the front of your running vest. The event organisers will not be held responsible for incorrect reporting of results if the event number is worn incorrectly.  The race is gun time only.

Car Parking
If possible, please run, walk, or cycle to the event, there is bike parking available at the farm.  There is no car parking at race HQ, please use Spirella Building, Letchworth, SG6 4ET, which is a short walk to Standalone farm. Marshals will be available to direct you to the farm.  Make sure that you arrive in plenty of time. We encourage arriving at the farm by 8:00 for you to be able to pick up your event number in time.  If you decide to park on side streets, then please be mindful.

Assembly, Start and Finish
Entrants are requested to warm up within the farm area and assemble at the designated start area at least 10 minutes prior to the start to listen to final race instructions. The event will start at 9:00 prompt. The finish is also within the Standalone farm area.

Facilities
Toilets are available but since we are based at a working farm there are unfortunately no changing or showering facilities. A small baggage area will be provided although the car park is only a couple of minutes from the start of the race.

Race Safety
You are responsible for your own safety on this course. Please cross any roads carefully and stay on footpaths wherever possible. There are race marshals positioned at critical safety points on the course (i.e. road crossings) but the marshals have no powers to stop traffic for you. Most of the course is traffic free but if you are running alongside a road, you must stay on the pavement. Failing to comply with these instructions will result in disqualification. For safety reasons, please refrain from wearing MP3 players, iPods, headphones etc. during the race.

Entertainment and Refreshments
Standalone is a working farm and is open to the public on race day. Event entrants, friends and family can visit the farm café free of charge. However, if you wish to enter the farm itself then you must pay the entrance fee.  The start and finish area are not within the area of the farm where an entrance fee is required. A farm shop is located on the premises where you can purchase refreshments, toys and gifts.

Greenway Challenge Course Description
The course is clockwise around the Letchworth Garden City Greenway. Please note that this is a self-guided event and marshals will not be present at all junctions and turnings. A route description and map is available on www.greenwaychallenge.org.uk. Please print a copy of the instructions and map if you need it.

Water Stations
There will be 2 water stations at 5.8 and 10.5 miles. If the weather is warm, bring along your own water to take with you on the course.

Medical Assistance
Hearts Medical will be in attendance on the Farm. If you have any medical conditions, please mark your race number with a cross in the left-hand corner and write details of your condition and an emergency contact number on the back.

Results
The race is chip timed (gun to finish), online results will be available after the race via www.greenwaychallenge.org.uk

After the race
There will be cake and refreshments available after the race.
