Welcome to the Standalone 10k 2024. This is the 37th running of this wonderful community running event. We hope that you have a very enjoyable race.
Below, you will find all the information you will require to have a safe and enjoyable run.
Important Bits First
- The race starts at 9.30am.
- We suggest you arrive at least an hour before the race to pick up your race number, (registration closes at 9am) sort out your baggage and go to the toilet.
- It takes at least 5 minutes to get to the start. Set off early.
- If you can register before race day, do so. It’s one less worry on the day. You can pick up your running number at:
- Trisports (48 Station Rd, Letchworth. SG6 3BE) – Thursday 3rd October – 4 pm – 6 pm.
- Trisports – Friday 4th October – 4 pm – 6 pm.
- Trisports – Saturday 5th October – 10 am – 4 pm.
- Standalone Farm – Sunday 6th October – 7:45 am – 9 am.

Late Entry
The entry limit is fast approaching. You will be able to enter online until the limit is reached but please note that you cannot order a t-shirt.
Running Number (Including chip)
We are using reusable race numbers again. This will include a timing chip and has holes in each corner for pinning to your running top. After the race, please return the running number to the bins provided before you leave the finish area.
Race T Shirts
If you have ordered a t-shirt you will be able to collect your pre-paid t-shirt with your number on Thursday, Friday or Saturday at Trisports. On Sunday your t-shirt can only be collected after you have finished the race in the finish area. (Note: to reduce waste the order deadline was 14th September)
Getting to the race
We are working hard to make Standalone 10k 2024 as environmentally friendly as possible (click for more info) and we need your help with this.
- If you live locally, please walk or cycle to the farm, you'll arrive nicely warmed up and it is a great cool down after the race! We will be providing additional cycle racks on the farm, just follow the signs at race HQ.
- Standalone Farm is just a 17 minute walk (click here) (click) from Letchworth Garden City Train station, which is on the London to Cambridge line (click here)
- Please car share, if possible, not only is this more environmentally friendly but it will also ease pressure on our car park and reduce queues
Race day car parking.
- To minimise the impact on local residents, please don’t park on the roads around the farm.
- The main car park is accessed from Stotfold Road, Letchworth, SG6 4JS.
- The car park opens at 7:45 am.
- Official race parking is free.
- Please note, there is NO EXIT from the car park during the race as the exit crosses the race path!
- The exit from the car park will open at approx. 10:45 am.
- Please, NO DROP OFFS at the main car park due to small entrance and constant need for incoming cars only!
- We will have signs on the main routes through Letchworth Garden City directing you to the main parking - please follow these.
- There is NO PARKING in the Standalone Farm car parks.
- Alternative parking for those who need to leave before the main car park is open is at The Spirella Building, Letchworth, SG6 4ET. Please allow for a 15 minute walk to Standalone Farm (click here)
Baggage
We will have limited baggage facilities on the farm, where possible, we do ask runners to turn up ready to run. You will need your racenumber to collect your bag and there will be buckets for you to return your number before you leave the finish area.
Toilets
- We have added more toilets for this year’s race including an accessible toilet.
- Please give yourself plenty of time to use them and get to the start.
- There will be 2 x men’s 6-man urinal within the toilet areas.
- Please note that the toilets on the farm will not be open.
Warm up
There will be a warm-up in the farm car park at 9:10 am. Please listen to the announcements for the exact location.
The Start 9.30am
- The start is in Wilbury Road and is a 5-minute walk from the farm. Please give yourself plenty of time to get there.

- We will have start bays based on predicted times. Please line up in the correct bay at the start.
Recycle old trainers
If you have any old, clean trainers that you would like to recycle we will have bins at registration to collect these. Please tie the laces together. The trainers will be going to https://www.jogonagain.com who recycle them in various ways.
During the Race

There are plenty of places on the course and at the farm for spectators to see you run. Most of the course is on closed roads and therefore safe for spectating.
Course Description
Race Safety
- Please obey the instructions of the race marshals and police at all times.
- You must stay on the left hand side of the road and you must stay within the line of marshals and cones on the by-pass.
- Wearing headphones (including bone conducting headphones) is prohibited for your own safety and for the safety of other runners.
- Failing to comply with any of these instructions will result in disqualification.
- Marshals have no powers to stop traffic outside the road closure area therefore all runners are responsible for their own safety.
- The race is not suitable for dogs or running buggies.
- Runners may be asked to move on to pavements so that we can reopen roads.
- A water station will be available on the course at 5km.
The finish
The finish area will be back in the large car-park in front of Standalone Farm but bigger and better than before.
You will be finishing on the new access road into the farm, with plenty of space to mingle after, get water, pick up your pre-paid t-shirt, collect your baggage and return your number. There will also be plenty of space for your family and friends to cheer you as you cross the line and meet you afterwards outside the finishers’ area.
Results
Results will be available as soon as you have finished at https://my.raceresult.com/273523/registration. These results will highlight in yellow anyone who has won a prize.
Presentation
The presentation for the open race and Herts Vets Championships will take place on the hard standing area at approximately 10.45am
Children’s Fun Run
There will be a children’s fun run at this year’s event. It will take place immediately after the main race starts at 9.35am. If you arrive late you will not be able to start as we need to ensure that all children have safely finished before the first 10k runners come back.
The run is approximately 800m and will go along the Greenway, it is traffic free and will be marshalled.
The start will be on the farm hard standing on the path to the main car park.
If your child is 5 or under, they must be accompanied by an adult. If you want to run with a buggy, that is fine but please start at the back and be aware that the run is on a gravel track.
The finish will be through the finish arch of the main race. After the race your child will be guided to the exit of the finish area, (black NHRR gazebo). Please meet your child there.
Spectators
Standalone is a great venue, not only to race, but also to spectate. It is traffic free and there will be music while you wait for your runner(s) to finish. You will also be able to purchase refreshments.
If you want to watch the start of the 10k the best place is just outside the Farm. Please follow the instructions of the marshals on your way back in to the farm as the Fun Run will be starting at 9.35am and will be using the finish area.
There is plenty of space along the finishing straight to cheer the runners in but spectators are not allowed in the area immediately beyond the finish which will be
