British Masters Road 5k Championships 2024

A team of Squirrels headed into London to join almost 300 master’s athletes for the British Masters 5k Road Championships in a drizzly Battersea Park.

Rob Jowett led the club home in a time of 16:29 and was closely followed by Andrew Leach in 16:38. This crowned Andrew the BMAF V60 5k road Champion. The medals did not stop there, Rob Jowett, Shahab Ahmad and Matt Sayers combines times won silver as a M35 - 44 team.

Exeter Community Santa 5k event

A little further afield, Elwyn Howell kicked off the first day of advent at the Exeter Community Santa 5k event in the city centre on a very mild December day. Elwyn’s finishing time was 22:24.

Parkrun
We know Parkrun is not a race but one highlight from this week’s results is Tom Barclay’s time of 15:58 at the York event finishing just two seconds behind the leader.

This Saturday we had a number of Squirrels celebrating milestone Parkruns. Jon Hunt, Chris Stokes and Paula Holm made the pilgrimage to Bushy Parkrun (the home of Parkrun) to celebrate their 100ths and 50th Parkruns respectively. They were 3 of a field of 1400 runners on the completely flat, one lap course with glimpses of Hampton Court Palace for an exceptionally well organised event!
