The Greenway Challenge - Race Day Information

Sunday May 10th 2026, 9:00 am
Dear Runner,

Thank you for entering the 2026 Greenway Challenge. Please read carefully through the following information.

Race HQ
Standalone Farm, Wilbury Road, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 4JN

Race Number Collection
Your race number will be allocated on the day.  Registration will be at the Event HQ and will be open from 07:30 am on race day.  Please ensure you pick up your number before 08:45 am.

Car Parking
IMPORTANT: - The Event car park is the main car park for Standalone Farm and is accessed from Wilbury Road SG6 4JN.
Marshals and/or signs will be available to direct you to the Event HQ.

Please walk, run, cycle or car share to the event to minimise the impact on the environment. There are plenty of cycle racks on the farm and at the Event HQ to safely store your bike.

Make sure that you arrive in plenty of time. We encourage arriving at the farm by 08:00 am for you to be able to pick up your event number in time.  If you decide to park on side streets, then please be mindful of local residents.

Transfer
If you aren't able to run, there is no need to let us know. Unfortunately, we can't offer refunds or deferrals for this race, but you can transfer your place if you know somebody who would like to take part. This can be done on race day as well.

Race Number
Please wear your event number on the front of your running vest. The event organisers will not be held responsible for incorrect reporting of results if the event number is worn incorrectly.  The race is Chip timed only.  We will be collecting your race number at the finish as it is recyclable.

Assembly, Start and Finish

There will be a safety brief prior to the start. This will take place within the Event HQ. Entrants are requested to warm up within the farm area and assemble in the start area at least 10 minutes prior to the start to listen to final race instructions. The event will start at 9:00 am prompt. The finish is also within Standalone farm.

Marshals
There will be marshals on the course who will be there to warn you of road crossings and support you round the course. They will be on the course until 12 pm (noon). If you think you will take longer to run the course, please let us know at the Event HQ.

Facilities
Toilets are available but since we are based at a working farm there are unfortunately no changing or showering facilities. A small baggage area will be provided.

Race Safety
You are responsible for your own safety on this course, including crossing roads. Please cross any roads carefully and stay on footpaths wherever possible. There are race marshals positioned at critical safety points on the course (i.e. road crossings) but the marshals have no powers to stop traffic for you.

Most of the course is traffic free but if you are running alongside a road, you must stay on the pavement. Failing to comply with these instructions will jeopardise your safety. For safety reasons, please refrain from wearing headphones of any type during the race.
If you need help whilst on the course, please ring 07710 286470. One of the team will be available to offer support.
Medals
There will be a medal for all finishers of the Greenway Challenge.  Your race is timed and results are posted online, our famous cakes will be available at the end of the race, alongside the feeling of having completed the Greenway Challenge!

Event Sustainability
To ensure our race is as sustainable as possible, as a club we have invested in reusable cups to reduce our reliance on single use plastic, we are using reusable tape or bunting where we can, the numbers provided by our timing partner are reusable and we also encourage car sharing, walking or cycling to our event.

Entertainment and Refreshments

Standalone is a working farm and is open to the public on race day. Event entrants, friends and family can visit the farm café, which opens at 10am, free of charge. However, if you wish to enter the farm itself then you must pay the entrance fee.  The start and finish area are not within the area of the farm where an entrance fee is required. A farm shop is located on the premises where you can purchase refreshments, toys and gifts.

Greenway Challenge Course Description
The course is clockwise around the Letchworth Garden City Greenway. Please note that this is a self-guided event and marshals will not be present at all junctions and turnings. A route description and map is available on . Please print a copy of the instructions and map if you need it.

Water Stations
There will be 2 water stations at 5.8 and 10.5 miles. If the weather is warm, bring along your own water to take with you on the course.
Medical Assistance
EB Medical will be in attendance on the Farm and course. If you have any medical conditions, please mark your race number with a cross in the left-hand corner and write details of your condition and an emergency contact number on the back.

Results
Thanks to our chip timing partner, race results will be updated live here as they happen. They will be on Races On Line results service.

After the race
Cold drinks and delicious home-made cakes will be available free after the race for all runners.
