On Saturday, the finish, as ever, was erected speedily by an experienced band of squirrels while a brilliantly efficient production line filled 600+ goody bags. Lucky old runners this year got fab T shirts, Jordans bars, Highland Spring water, Capri Sun orange juice, apples and an array of leaflets/entry forms.
On Sunday, an amazing number of late entries (some 250 approx) added to the excellent pre-race entry brining the total entrants to an amazing 671. Maybe the good weather helped, maybe our brilliant publicity machine played a significant part. In any event all the hard work of every single helper ensured we not only had a big successful main race but a very popular Fun Run as well. The kids all got medals and chocolate as well as being able to finish the run through the main Finish festooned with balloons! Quite simply the feedback on the fun run has all been superb and I expect there will be much fun to be had in future years with this idea.
Face painting proved to be very popular which added to the fun on a nice sunny day. More activities will be investigated by the Race Committee for future inclusion...any ideas let me know.
Traditional Standalone good weather continued as I'm sure you've all come to expect.
The presentation of the trophies became a little confusing and I for one found it difficult to quickly decide who got which prize owing in part to 3 vet ladies coming in the first 3 places. This is an area we need to learn from and improve our interpretation of the results. Perhaps an additional "expert" on hand to focus 100% on this just prior to the presentation.
