NHRR New Home!

From Tuesday 03 January 2012, NHRR will meet in the cafe area (upstairs) at the North Herts Leisure Centre at 1915 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Leisure Centre has requested that we do not use the Leisure Centre car park; there is parking available in neighbouring streets/car parks nearby e.g. Dunhams Lane or Sixth Avenue.
Note that food is not yet available at the Leisure Centre but there are lockers and showering facilities.

First time at NHRR?
We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 19:15 (Beginners' Group is held on Thursdays only) upstairs at North Herts Leisure Centre. Ask for the running club at reception and look out for people wearing NHRR kit.  We have club announcements at 19:15, then head out for the evening's run.  After training we have the use of the showers.

What should I wear?
This is very much weather dependent.  Being warm enough and dry enough when running are key.  If the session will be taking place in the dark, such as through the winter months, you should wear bright/fluorescent clothes to ensure that you can be seen by motorists (and other runners!). Have a look at the club kit to get an idea for what other members will be wearing.
Please note that you will not be allowed to use MP3 players/headphones while taking part in a club session.

How do I know who to run with?
There is a choice of training options. Our qualified club coaches put together a balanced training schedule and take coached sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays - the coached session is explained during announcements and runners head out in groups of similar ability. If this isn't your thing, then we have groups of runners who go for runs (typically people will run between 3-8 miles, depending on the group) around the streets and countryside of Letchworth. Just ask around and we'll make sure you have the right group to run with.

How do I join?

First, come and try us out for a couple of sessions and see how it goes. Then fill in a membership form and send it to our Membership Secretary at one of the sessions. Membership for 2010 is just 30 pounds. Contact: membership@nhrr.org.uk

I need some training advice, can you help?
Of course we can! We have a number of qualified coaches at the club as well as members who have run many different types of races all over the world from 5ks to marathons and beyond! Whether it is a quick question or more detailed training advice, we are definitely on hand to help.

It's not just about running!

NHRR has an active social scene with many different events being organised throughout the year.
