Cross Country?

If you have never run cross country before then you really must give it a go!

Will it be cold?

Probably.

Will it be wet?

Probably.

Will it be muddy?

Probably.
But you have got to give it a go! Once you have run one you will definitely come back for more!

Really, Cross Country?

There is a great team spirit and you are not just running for yourself, you are helping the team. Many club members take part and it is a great team event.
The beauty of cross country is that you are running for your club, how fast you go is irrelevant. Placing is important right down to the last scorer in each of the teams. You may be the 200th runner to finish, but if the runner behind you is the last scorer of his team then he will score 201, pushing up their points score.

What Else Should I Know?

• 7 men (including 2 vets) and 3 ladies (including 1 vet) to score in each race.

• Even if you don't score directly, your position can still effect the score of other teams.

• All races are on Sunday mornings, starting at 10.30.

• All races are FREE to NHRR members!

• You will be issued with a race number by the XC Rep a week or two before the first race.

• Keep your race number for ALL races in the series - don't throw it away!

• The routes will be over distances of approximately 5 miles on grass, tracks, shingle paths, and mud but definitely no roads. Men and women race together over the same course.

• There are free refreshments afterwards and you may be lucky to get a hot shower as well!

• Other than your club vest, what you wear is up to you and dependant on the weather e.g. gloves, thermals, long sleeved tee shirt, tracksters etc. Off road running shoes, studded trainers or xc spikes are best to run in.

• You must be a paid-up NHRR member to run. (See membership information here or email the membership secretary)

• You must wear one of our lovely 'go-faster' NHRR Club vests! (See kit selection here or email the kit secretary)
